Addis Ababa University (AAU) is a national university located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It is the oldest and the largest higher learning and research institution in Ethiopia. Since its inception, the University has been the leading center in teaching-learning, research and community services.
AAU was founded in 1950 as the University College of Addis Ababa (UCAA). It was chartered in 1954 and became a fully-fledged university in 1961.
