About ERCS
Established in 1935, the Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) stands as one of Ethiopia’s oldest and largest humanitarian entities. It serves disaster-affected communities via emergency responses, first aid, family reunification, water and sanitation, and essential drugs. ERCS fosters resilience through disaster risk reduction initiatives, spanning 12 Regional Offices, 34 Zonal Branches, 131 District/Woreda Branches, 599 Woreda Red Cross Committees, and 5871 Kebele Red Cross Committees. ERCS engages in food security, climate adaptation, and capacity-building efforts, collaborating with the Ethiopian Government, IFRC, ICRC, National Societies, volunteers, and communities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Partner with planning, monitoring, evaluation, and learning head for plan and activity coordination within National Society.
- Actively engage in creating, adopting, and adapting Standard Operating Procedures and guidelines for quality assurance.
- Participate and lead in strategic plan coordination and review.
- Coordinate and assist HQ units and branches in crafting Annual Operational Plans.
- Ensure HQ work units and branches’ Annual Operational Plans maintain quality and integration.
- Collaborate with program units to compile annual plans, consolidated budgets, and reports.
- Engage in Project Planning; Assist Program/Project Coordinators in Monitoring and Evaluation Plan preparation.
- Incorporate field monitoring insights into Periodic Reports for organizational learning.
- Create reporting schedule, oversee timely submission of reports, and support HQ and branches in reporting.
- Collaborate with program units for periodic reports; Organize program review sessions.
- Coordinate field monitoring visits, prepare reports, and share findings with stakeholders.
- Develop TORs, organize and conduct internal/joint evaluations, and disseminate reports.
- Assist in Management Action Plan formulation and follow up on implementation.
- Ensure quality TORs for external evaluations and their final reports.
- Coordinate post-distribution monitoring of relief items by HQ.
- Establish thematic wikis and blogs for learning.
- Support PMEL activities with updated technologies.
- Integrate CEA into M&E, gather community feedback, and deliver training.
- Report performance to PMEL director periodically.
Education and experience
- Second/First Degree in Economics, Management, Statistics, Development Studies, Regional Local and Development Studies,
- 6/8 year work experience on humanitarian and development projects’
Trainings and Skills
- Advanced training in Project/Program Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation.
- Comprehensive training in Community Engagement and Accountability.
- Profound training in Project Management.
- In-depth instruction on Mobile & Remote Data Collection systems like Kobo Toolbox, ODK, Magpi, Commacare.
- Extensive training on Microsoft Office suite, particularly advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Training in data visualization tools including Power BI, Tableau.
- Proficiency in analytical tools such as SPSS and Stata.
