About GIZ
Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a German government-owned development agency that operates globally. Duties and Responsibilities
- Performing official travel using designated vehicles safely and responsibly.
- Regularly maintaining and servicing official vehicles. Considering road conditions, routes, and locations for travel.
- Assisting with office tasks and errands. Safely driving assigned vehicles for GIZ-BFP, Forest for Future, and Natural Resources Stewardship Programme, including partners and visitors.
- Preparing vehicles for rugged field trips (extra tires, repair kit, water, first aid).
- Promptly reporting accidents, injuries, and vehicle issues to fleet management.
- Notifying fleet/logistics officer of maintenance needs.
- Understanding and adhering to driving and passenger regulations.
- Aiding in goods transportation.
- Accurate and conscientious completion of vehicle logbooks, following GIZ standards.
- Safely operate assigned vehicles, chauffeuring GIZ-BFP, Forest for Future, and Natural Resources Stewardship Programme staff, official visitors, and partners to designated destinations.
- Prepare vehicle for robust off-road trips (spare tires, repair kit, water, first aid, safety gear) in lowland areas.
- Note road conditions, routes, security, and locations.
- Alert Fleet Manager for maintenance needs.
- Report all office vehicle incidents, accidents, damage, or theft promptly.
- Maintain accurate logbook as per regulations.
- Comprehend driving and passenger rules.
- Perform additional tasks as directed by management.
Qualifications
- Secondary school level
- Possession of valid driving license
- Required language skills: Working level of English
- Familiarity with SNNPR, SWPR and Amhara region, sound knowledge of road and safety regulations.
- At least 5 years of working experience as driver with references (no accidents caused)
- Proven experience of driving in rural areas and off-road areas
- Vocational training in Auto mechanics is of advantage.
- Previous Job experience with international organizations is of advantage.
